27 2006 Austrian climber Christian Stangl, famous by his
Speedclimbs at Aconcagua and
Kilimanjaro and others, put the sppeed climb record on Elbrus -
he climbed from the mountain bottom Azau till the top and back to
Azau.

Azau - Elbrus top - Azau : 5 hours 18 minutes
Total
time Azau - top- Azau: 7 hours 18 minutes.
He
verified the ascent by GPS Track Log.
On
the picture: Chris while descent at Pastukhov rocks. Summit wind
was very strong that day that he got some minor frostbites at his
face. Christian climbed Elbrus 3 times during his 14 day trip in
Baksan valley.
