NEVADO PISSIS TO THE WORLD
The province of Catamarca is located in the northwest of Argentina. It limits to the north with the Province (State) of Salta, to the east, Catamarca is bordered by the Provinces of Salta Tucuman, Santiago del Estero and Cordoba; to the south it limits to the Provinces of Cordoba and La Rioja; and to the west with Chile.
OBJETIVES
šEncourage people from all around the world to visit Mount Pissis, the second highest mountain of America, through the "International Mountain Congress and the International Expedition to the Summit cam of Nevado Pissis", giving the chance mountaineers from world wide Mountain Federations and Institutions to participate.
The Province of Catamarca, is becoming one of the most important places in Argentina that tourists prefer to visit especially if they are interested in high mountain activities; always taking into account nature and respecting it.
Catamarca has established the natural protected Area PIANWALLA in order to reserve La Puna?s Natural inheritance, protecting its Biodiversity, anthropology finding, rivers, culture and landscapes, In this areas stand the 6 most important highest mountains of occident: Nevado Pissis, Ojos del Salado, Tres Cruces, Walter Penck, and Inca Huasi.
LOCATION OF MOUNTAIN:
Volcano Pissis is located in Argentina, en the Bandary line between La Rioja and Catamarca provinces and at 28 kilometers far from the frontier of Chile. It's highest summit reaches 6882š m and it is occident second highest mountain; its approximate position is 27œ 45'200 S and 68œ 47'600 W.
Seeing from the north, from left to right, their height are: 6870 m, 6875 m, 6530 m, 6882 m, andš 6775 ml.
Difficulty: Mountain difficulty it's essential previous experience in heights.
Responsibility: The organizations responsibility limits only to transport, food and information issues. Each participant must be aware of the details and characteristics.
Medical Assistance: Disks about the activity they are going to perform, and to accept them. They must also have a medical insurance in order to develop these activities. High Camp II will provide medical assistance and transport in case of emergency.
Required equipment Special tent for heights; small oven with fired or enough gas; sleeping- bag for heights, high - mountain overcoats, windbreaker, double plastic boots, crampon, pickaxe, rucksack, sox, 2 or 3š pair of gloves, fingerless gloves, pair of glasses, and food for High Camp I and II
