22 December, 2011 K2 Winter expedition. Russian National team. Eight members returned to Skardu after the acclimatization push. Other 8 will begin the same tomorrow. Expeditional loads are ready for the heli transportation to BC. The weather begins inproving.We wait when Pakistani Army will provide a helicopter to airdrop our supplies.

13 December, 2011 K2 Winter expedition. Russian National team. Arrived to Islamabad. The meeting in the Russian Ambassy. The team got the permit in the Central Alpine Club of Pakistan.

Great Trango Tower, the route "Parallel World". Congrats! Galina lives in
S. Petersburg, Anna and Marina are from Ukraine

25 November, 2011 The Russian National Team is ready for their K2 winter ascent. Nine alpinists are striving to become the world’s first men to complete a winter ascent of K2, the planet’s most challenging and northernmost peak beyond 8,000 metres. They will accomplish their endeavour between December 2011 and March 2012 in Pakistan. The alpinists are scheduled to fly out of Moscow to Islamabad on 9th December 2011.

Their kick-off press conference is to take place in Moscow on 5th December 2011. The climbers are looking to hoist on top of K2 this winter the national colours of Russia and the official colours of Sochi-2014 Winter Olympics.
This team climbed already new routes on Lhotse Middle (2001), Everest North Face (2004) and K2 West Face (2007). 9 athlets will take part in K2 Winter climb. News, photo and video will be published on the official site www.k2-winterclimb.ru

2. Korean team - peak Hunter (4410m) Moonflower Buttress in Alaska.

3. Kazakhstan double - peak Prjevalskogo (6240m) W face and peak Pobedy (7439m) N face.

4. International team - peak Gasherbrum-2 (8035) the first winter ascent.

5 October, 2011 THE DREAMERS OF GOLDEN CAVES, a new Slovenian route on K7 West (6615 v) NW Face. SloveniansNejc Marcic and Luka Strazar climbed 5,200-foot new route on the northwest face, during a four-day, alpine-style round trip in early September, and called it Sanjaci zlatih jam ("The Dreamers of Golden Caves"), VI 5 M5 A2. The lower part of the route was mostly ice, and the upper section required rock and mixed climbing; during the second day, they managed only 250 meters of climbing on very difficult terrain. VI/5, M5, A2, 1600 ì, Sep, 6-9 2011.

K7 West was first climbed in 2007, via its southeast face, by the American-Slovenian team of Vince Anderson, Steve House, and Marko Prezelj.
